History and Mission
Scholares Journal is the official, peer-reviewed research publication of the Psychology Department of Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc. (JMCFI). Established to cultivate a robust culture of scholarly inquiry, the journal serves as a dedicated outlet for faculty, researchers, and students to disseminate original contributions that advance the understanding of human behavior, cognition, and mental processes. Reflecting the department’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, Scholares Journal upholds the highest standards of intellectual rigor and ethical research practices.
Focus and Scope
Scholares Journal invites contributions that explore the breadth and depth of psychological science, including but not limited to the following areas: clinical and counseling psychology, developmental and educational psychology, cognitive and experimental psychology, social and organizational psychology, psychometrics and psychological assessment, community and cross-cultural psychology, mental health and well-being, neuroscience and biological bases of behavior, among other emerging areas.
The journal welcomes interdisciplinary approaches and studies that address contemporary issues relevant to the Philippine socio-cultural context while remaining engaged with global psychological discourse. It publishes original research articles, systematic reviews, case studies, and theoretical essays that make meaningful contributions to evidence-based practice and policy.
Peer Review and Publication Frequency
All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure methodological soundness, substantive relevance, and scholarly fairness. The journal operates on a rolling submission basis and publishes accepted articles in regular issues throughout the academic year.

Scholares Journal is committed to the global dissemination of knowledge and operates under a full open access model. All articles are made freely available online immediately upon publication, without any embargo period or subscription fees. Digital Archiving and Preservation
To ensure the permanent availability and long-term preservation of its scholarly content, Scholares Journal participates in the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) archival systems. Through these distributed preservation networks, the journal’s content is securely stored and maintained across multiple institutional servers, safeguarding access for future generations of researchers even in the event of technical failures or discontinuation of hosting services.
